When did we break apart?
What did “I” do to cause a rift?
How is it that 'you' and 'I' who seemed inseparable are now strangers?
We used to work, dance, sing and laugh together….
And most of all I remember we used to love one another.
I search in my heart and realize we are suffering from the same thing.
We believed nothing could come between us.
Then, “it” came along.
"It" seduces and makes us forget what we are.
“It” is not bad. I judge not. Only it seems “it,” did come to separate us.
“It” is just a form of exchange.
Still, clearly “it” has so much power.
Power to make us believe we need “it” and that more of “it” is what we want.
I wish “it” wasn’t a part of our world.
I miss “us.”
We were once an “us.”
“It,” does that. It clusters us and secludes us.
“It,” imprisons us. You and I. All of us.
So, I’ve played the game long enough.
I must continue to play the game, but, now I know that “it” was designed to divide us.
And now I remind myself and you:
That, we have been sold a lie. It has made us materialistic and 'that world' doesn’t fill us.
That lie helps us to think more than feel. And when we do feel, we feel a void, a divide, and grief.
We have been misinformed about the evolution of “it.”
We have been made to believe that “it,” can be attained freely if we apply ourselves.
We have been made to think that there isn’t abundance without “it.”
We defend “it,” saying “it” is not evil, but that ‘loving it is.’
We cannot see clearly that there are other ways to prosper.
We don’t have to just strive to survive and coexist, but, rather live and co-thrive.
So I ask myself:
When did “we” become you and I?”
Why must there be an “us” and “them”?
Do we not have the same basic needs and hopes?
We all need water, food, clothes, homes, safe and peaceful communities, health care,... love.
So I ask your heart, as I’ve asked mine to help me remember.
What I hear is a gentle voice say:
Together you say?
Yes, together we can evolve....
Yes, remember who you are together.
Who are we together?
Together we are human beings.
Humans who love... nature and all beings on planet earth.
Remember what you are?
We are loving human beings who are capable of affirming love and enhancing life.
Love is soft and gentle but it is also firm and strong.
Love is patient and kind.
Love is active and never passive or dismissive.
Love stands up for all.
Love leaves no one behind.
Love is “us” and “we.”
Together - remember!
Love is our source and our purpose.
Remember we are human beings who love.
Together we can!
We can transition our world to reflect who we truly are.
Together across borders and cultural divides imposed on us, we can co-create a loving world.
First, we will need to forgive ourselves for propagating “it.” It is not just “them” who fuel the divide. We are all a part of this....
